Fatal Falls Increase Significantly in Workplace Death Talley for 2004

The Bureau of Labour Statistics reports that all workplace deaths increased slightly in 2004 and that the most common fatal workplace accidents-highway incidents-also rose slightly. The second most common fatal workplace accident-falls-saw the most dramatic increase since record keeping began to a total of 815 reported incidents in 2004. Of these, fatal falls from ladders increased by 17% and construction workers accounted for 88% of fall fatalities.
